Wagram Community Gardeners were out early this year (March 5th!) to start their spring gardens. Gardeners planted lettuces, brocolli, kale, onions, radishes, turnips, carrots and much more. At a recent garden meeting they learned about starting their own seeds at home so they can bring transplants to the garden.
View some photos of the garden planting here.
Gardeners have another group planting day scheduled for April 30th during which they'll plant summer vegetables like tomatoes, summer squash, peppers, cucumbers, corn, melons and lots of other yummy vegetables and fruits.
This is a project of The Cooperative Extension Program at N.C. Agricultural & Technical State University
This North Carolina Children, Youth, and Families at Risk (CYFAR) project uses community gardening to: empower communities to produce food for families, deliver hands-on nutrition education, create opportunities for youth to develop agri-related business skills, build leadership among community members, and provide engaging activities for family members of all ages to work together for a common purpose.
